This is a map of "My Personal Linn County". This map contains locations that have remained important to me over the course of my college life and life within Linn County.
Cornell College and Mount Vernon remain the most important locations on my map. These places are where I spend most of my life be it attending class, studying and living on campus or working at Pizza Palace in downtown.Mount Vernon has all the charms a small Iowan town can have. A few bars, pizza shops, a pharmacy, small parks, and many friendly people.
Sometimes we need to get out of town. When I do, its usually a trip to the nearby city of Cedar Rapids. Cedar Rapids offers a variety of restaurants to eat out in such as Olive Garden or Buffalo Wild Wings, a mall for shopping and shopping centers for groceries and school supplies.
But if you are seeking some outdoor fun, the 840 acres of Palisades-Kepler State Park has much to offer. Trails crisscross the many hills and provide great hiking adventures. Camping is also available in Palisades, but I have yet to explore this option. The park is a great location for picnicking, or even just some quiet down time after finals.
